Driving with DaDa

This girl loves hoping in the drivers seat when ever she gets a chance and Daddy doesn't mind showing her the ropes :) The first pic is from the other week, but the others are from our summer road trips...she's grown so much in the last couple of months!

A Girl's Best Friend

Bobbi Bear (aka BooBoo) is the best dog with Emerson!! She is soooo good with her! Eme will climb all over her, pull her tail, put her hands in her mouth, try and take her tags off her collar and BooBoo just sits there and goes along! Now the other dog, River...not so much, if Eme comes within 2 feet, he's out of there!
Here are some pictures of Eme and her Boo playing recently....

Don't you love the last one?? So, funny, she's like what? What's the problem with crawling all over the dog?! Reminds me of this funny E*trade video :)

Surprise Visit

Today we had a surprise visit from Emerson's Great Uncle Greg! He was in town for work and had a couple hours to spare. Such a nice treat! Uncle Greg is great, I have such great memories of him when I was little. He taught me how to ride my bike, how not to get a ton of water in my mask for snorkeling and made sure I was dressed in the finest Maryland Terps clothing. :) It's too bad he and my Aunt Laura live out in Texas, it would be nice to see them more and my cousins too. :) But, we'll take what we can get! I think he has a new fan in Emerson, she especially thought his shoes were tasty! :)

Union Jack

I saw this and thought of my friend, Britain and had to share.

It's from Restoration Hardware's Baby Store and while it's cute, I'm not sure it's a $169 dollars cute! But, since the Union Jack is so popular right now...I saw it on a baby carrier the other day for crying out loud, I also found a similar poof at Hobby Lobby for about $80 and with a coupon or sale, you could get it for MUCH less! I love fun finds like that!

Cake Batter Pie

I found this recipe on Pinterest and I just had to try it! Who doesn't like cake batter?!?! So, I thought while cooking dinner and waiting for the baby to wake up was a PERFECT time to try something I've never made before!! Don't you think?!

The back left pot is the pie filling cooking, the other pots are part of dinner, which was Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, can't go wrong with a Southern Living recipe! It's a little thick, so to make it more soup like I add more broth and sometimes more cream too :) Emerson enjoyed it too, probably not the best thing for her, since the broth has salt in it, but it's hard to keep her away from our plates! Personally, I think she likes whatever were eating, even if she doesn't like the taste :)

Ok, back to the pie...wasn't too hard, I added an extra tablespoon of cake flour and used Vienna Finger cookies and when I went to try it, this is what I found!!!

Ummmm...that's not what her pie looked like..

I think I have a pie destroyer...named Dan!!! The pie does taste like cake batter flavored pudding, but it's not cake batter, you know? If you try it, let me know how you liked it. Oh, I also used cool whip to top it...I'm all about using what we have in the house :)

8 Month Update

So, it's a week late...better late than never...

I know I always start out with your getting so big, so fast, but it's TRUE!! Every month you seem to learn more and more, right in front of our eyes, it's amazing how fast time goes with a little one!

So, a short while after this picture, which is the day you officially turned 8 months, I broke some toes running to get the camera to take ANOTHER picture! Now, that's how you celebrate!! ;)

Here is the shot I just had to have...

Which is cute, you stealing my cheerios and peach, but broken toe good??

Here are the monthly block pictures, which are getting MUCH harder to do, but you get the idea..that adorable dress you have on was made by me and supervised by Grandmommy. :) First outfit sewn by Mama, perfect for watching Alabama football with Dada!

8 Month Recap:
Thankfully, you are NOT walking! You are very good at shuffling along furniture and that is more than enough to keep Mommy and Daddy very busy! You can also sit up from laying down on your back and you say MAMA now!!! Yay!!! So cute! I've seen you stand for a second without holding on, but only a quick second, it won't be long before you have a new trick. You do have a new trick that you love showing off...you can wave and you love when people clap and a cheer you on to wave more. Did I mention you are a human billy goat??!! Oh my goodness!! You eat everything in site! I don't know how high up I'm going to have to put things...the other day it was the phone book, daily the dogs have to fight you for their water bowls and you have a serious addiction to electrical cords!!! Lordy, girl, that is NOT a good habit, but you come by it honestly, I do believe I almost electrocuted myself when I was a bit older than you, so I've been crafty at hiding cords and making sure to watch you like a hawk!

Stats:
16 pds
26 inches
Size 2 diapers
6-12 months clothing
Food- same as last month plus sweet potato sticks (you don't seem to like it ground up), prunes, pears, yogurt, cottage cheese, teething biscuits, and watermelon...you like to eat, no doubt about it, your in the right family then! :)
Sleep- well...sometimes you sleep past 6:30am...I've made your bedtime later, about 8pm and it seems to work better for you, but you almost ALWAYS wake up 45 minutes after I lay you down, but only for a second and I don't even have to rock you, but I wonder what's going on with that and you still wake up SEVERAL times a night, you have a hard time comforting yourself. You play so hard during the day I think it's hard for you to relax at night, I also think Mommy has bad habits and she's going to have to change those before you'll change :) Even with the crazy sleep schedule, you are a happy baby and are very generous with the smiles and hugs!

We love you soooo much booger bear!!

Champagne Punch

Well, since this blog is called Champagne and Cupcakes, I think this recipe for Pomegranate-Champagne Punch is only fitting...
Ingredients

* 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
* 1 cup pear nectar
* 1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
* 1 bottle (750 ml) Champagne

Directions

1. In a large pitcher, combine pomegranate juice, pear nectar, and orange-flavored liqueur. Slowly add Champagne. Serve over ice.

Cook's Note

We used Champagne in this punch, but other sparkling white wines, such as Prosecco, are equally festive and just as good.

I just need a reason/party to make this...hmm...I know Thursdays are always Champagne Thursday, right? :) Of course, I stole that line from the movie Failure to Launch, super cheesy, but I LOVE IT!!! I'll let you know how the punch turns out...:)

Hunny Sip and See

So, the other day or week...whenever it was..you saw my previous post...I posted pictures of the Sip and See inspiration and below are pictures of the actual party...behold...

Wishes for baby...love this and will definitely do it every time!

Pooh quotes and they read, "Some people care too much, I think it's called love," "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you," and "Promise me you'll always remember: your braver than you think, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." I just used pooh wrapping paper for the mat part and printed the quotes on card stock and cut out and taped on. Easy peasy and added a touch of Pooh.

Honey Stick Favors

The food that was served was Hunny Ham Sandwiches, Hunny Ginger Iced Tea, Hunny Roasted Peanuts, Fruit Salad with Hunny Yogurt Dip, Sugar Cookies with bee toppers, Cupcakes, Gummy Bears and Soft Pretzels with Hunny Mustard Dip

The Proud New Mommy

It was a great party and such a wonderful celebration! But, I think on the party decoration side, I could have gone even BIGGER on the decorations...I used to think less was more, but I'm starting to think for a party the BIGGER the BETTER! If you need some more Hunny Bee Party Inspiration, check out this cute party!

Of course, I have to end the post with a picture of Miss Emerson

She hung out for most of the party like this :)

The Hunny Sip and See Inspiration

I thought I'd start with the inspiration for the sip and see...First off, our friend, loves Winnie the Pooh and has decorated her daughter's room in yellow and Pooh Bear. So, we decided that we'd go in that direction with the shower. I got together with my friend Google and came across two great parties on Hostess with the Mostess...
The first party was more Pooh themed...

The next party had more of a bee and honey theme...

Tomorrow, I'll show some pictures of the actual party we threw :) In the meantime, here are the cutest guests at the party along with the beautiful guest of honor...

This picture cracks me up, they all look really happy to have their picture taken!
